Hello World
So, I have landed here on Bear Blog. This has come at a time, where I have been changing my Internet habits, caused by leaving Discord behind and thus, leaving some really wonderful communities that have inhabited the servers.
It was time for something new
Exchanging thoughts on Discord is very fast, but also short-lived.
I craved for different ways of expressing myself and hence landed on Bear Blog. The minimal nature of this platform is what really speaks to me. The limitations, the reduction of choice, it all enables me to keep focus and in this case, finish my little musings.
building community
Even though I am happy building up my little space here, Bear Blog will not necessarily help connect with other people though. I would have to look elsewhere.
While I was still active on Discord, I have been noticing comments about, what a shame it is, that our discussions about certain subjects will not be found again and how people missed being on forums and that resonated with how I felt. So it is back to the forums for meee. And since there aren't too many german speaking forums around, for creatives in the ttrpg space, me and a couple of like-minded people are in the middle of setting up a Discourse, so let's see where that will go...
looking for community in unusual places?
While pondering around on what alternatives might be out there to harbor a community, I kind fell in love with the idea of using filesharing software à la Soulseek, as a homebase. Most instances are decentralized, they come with chats and some software even provide mail, boards, forums and voice-/videochat (RetroShare) to engage with your group. And then of course there is the aspect of sharing. Browsing through the files and projects of your friends, finding all sorts of treasures and not having to rely on any uploading services harvesting your data. Definitely something I will be experimenting with...
That should be enough for now. Just a little introduction of how I got here and an update to what is going on at the moment. More to come soon <3
